Managing Personal Finance
Thursday, October 27th

Guest Speaker – Cathy Holcombe, Senior Research Analyst
Quam Limited – HKABPW Mentoring Program Sponsor

An evening of knowledge building and social interaction with two groups of dynamic women!!!! Men Welcome Too!!!

With a financial journalism background, Cathy Holcombe works as a stock analyst at Quam Limited covering the retail and textile sectors and is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Roland Report. Cathy started her training in financial modelling during the 1996 market bubble in Hong Kong, when even a donkey could have been hired to flog stocks. Currently, Cathy also contributes to the Columnists section at Quamnet.com, which includes her recent pieces on “The Best Minds – are as Confused as Yours”, “The Financial Statements Grammies”, and “Malls will not save China”.

Cathy was formerly the Business Editor of Spike Magazine and the Markets Editor at the South China Morning Post and the Standard. Originally from Washington D.C., Cathy has lived in Hong Kong for eleven years. As a working mom, Cathy hopes to retire before she becomes a working grandmother.

During this session, Cathy will share with everyone practical tips on managing your personal finances. Whether you have a regular pay cheque or unpredictable income, married or single, with or without children - you can still build towards a substantial retirement fund, no matter when you start or how much you start with. All you need is a little bit of financial know how.

We will explore the following topics in this talk:

  • Financial Needs of the “Modern Women” – Different Stages, Different Ages
  • Feasts and Famines – the benefits of managing assets for the self-employed
