"Women and Love" - April 29th, 2005

Guest Speakers – Dr. Rosann Santora Kao & Dr. Jadis Blurton
There are many types of love and times in life when love takes on different meanings. In this seminar, we will explore the types and times of love over a woman’s lifetime. We will discuss the expectations, desires, and limitations that shape women’s relationships.

Dr. Rosann Santora Kao - Dean and Counselor at the Hong Kong International School
Rosann’s portfolio centers on family studies, relationships and sexuality education. She earned her doctorate degree at New York University, USA and has made her home in Hong Kong for the past 30 years. Rosann is a community activist with considerable history in women’s programs, an active member in various women’s organizations including the International Women Forum, a long-time friend of HKABPW, and an amazing mother of three grown daughters.

Dr. Jadis Blurton - Clinical Director of Therapy Associates Ltd.
Jadis holds a doctorate in life-span developmental psychology from the University of California, USA. She has long had a keen interest in the diverse roles women play in an increasingly demanding social system and has published on the predictors of satisfaction in the lives of gifted women. Jadis has lived in Hong Kong for eight years and is the mother of six grown children.

This workshop will feature the comparative interchange of two dynamic and successful women who have found ways to juggle work, love and meaning in their lives.

We will also explore the following topics in this talk:
  • Types of love
  • Timelines of love
  • What does love give us?
  • Role models and mentors – do we need them?
  • Do we have to have it all? If not, which types of love do we give up?
