Women in Leadership - Lessons from
the White House
Dr. Tamara
Monosoff, a former appointee in the Clinton Administration,
will speak about her experience and research on women working at the
highest level of leadership in the Executive Office of the President
of the United States. Dr. Monosoff took advantage of her own experience
and her unique access to these women to conduct a formal study seeking
to understand the challenges facing women who have ascended to high-ranking
positions in the White House.
The purpose was to identify the common
challenges encountered; the leadership characteristics developed; the
insight gained from their unique journey through 'uncharted territory';
the role higher education played in preparing them for leadership; and
finally, advice they would give to women aspiring to become leaders.
Dr. Monosoff believes that increased knowledge will afford women the
opportunity to deliberately and strategically strive for positions of
power within both private and public sector organizations, with confidence.
